Clerks 3

"Clerks 3" is a beautiful tribute to friendship, loneliness, getting older, regret, and redemption. It covers so much ground. And best of all there are many, many laugh out loud moments.

If you've never seen a "Clerks" film, definitely don't just jump in. Nearly the entire script would leave you scratching your head if you haven't seen its predecessors. But for longtime fans of the series (and Kevin Smith movies in general), there is so much to love. All the cast members you can think of from the series have returned in some capacity or another, and it really helps accentuate the point that getting older means different things to us all. We see some longtime characters exist in almost the same form as the past (Jay and Silent Bob), and we see some characters ravaged by age (the main characters Dante and Randal).

There are a number of real touching, tear jerker moments. Way more than I think I've seen in any Kevin Smith film previously. But it all lands so well, obviously targeted at the audience whose grown up on these films. Smith knows the audience's demographic and presents it in a way that feels like we're all celebrating (or mourning) getting older together.

It really sucks that I was unable to see this in the theatre, but it only received a limited release and it simply never came to my hometown. It's such a shame because this is a truly beautiful send off to a franchise that is beloved by many (including me). I would have loved to see this in the theatre.

An excellent send off. And stick around during the credits where Kevin Smith does a bit of a voice over reflection on the film, which is something I've never seen done and thought it added a lot of class. I loved "Clerks 3".
