Klaus

“Klaus” is a really funny, wholly original take on the Santa Claus mythos. It caught me completely by surprise, especially the humour. I was very surprised at how funny it was. The animation is another bright spot. The style seemed off putting to me when I saw frames from the film, it reminded me too heavily of Flash animation. That being said, when you actually see the movie in action, it totally works and I’ll gladly eat my words. It kind of ends up being a hybrid between flash and old-school hand drawn animation and I totally dig it. The tone is zany in the same sense as “The Emperor’s New Groove”. And to be fair, I think that’s a pretty darn good compliment for any animated film to receive.
