Knives Out
“Knives Out” is a murder mystery movie that to me seemed like it thinks it’s way smarter than it actually is. There are plenty of twists and turns and it seems to have really captivated the attention of the public. But I didn’t feel too surprised by the majority of revelations. Some of the biggest twists I saw coming from a mile away.
That sounds profoundly negative, but don’t take it so. The cast is phenomenal and even though I found it less surprising than it was meant to be, it was still great to see such a talented cast interact in a cinematic game of “Clue”. Daniel Craig specifically is awesome. His character of “Benoit Blanc” is one that will surely gain steam for future iterations. Chris Evans is also a real gem in the film. It’s always nice to see him in such a different role than the “Captain America” he’s famous for (or to a much lesser extent - “The Human Torch”).
The tone of the film is light and fun and it’s obvious it doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is wholly to it’s benefit. A harmless, not-too-dark murder mystery that is fun for a single viewing or a great film to watch with your parents.
